Massoud Mansour, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jahad and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) met on Wednesday with Governor General of Hamedan province and expressing that the protection of water and soil resources and vegetation cover of the country's in forests and rangelands is the basis of sustainable development and biosecurity, noted: "Paying attention to natural resources is so vital that it is one of the most important pillars of sustainable development." 

According to FRWO's website, ِDr. Massoud Mansour, referring to fact that natural resources cover 83 percent of the country's territory and FRWO is responsible for their conservation, restoration, development and exploitation, said that many risks such as subsidence, landslides, floods, climate change and drought risks can be prevented by protecting natural resources areas.

He emphasized the effectiveness of IWM projects in preventing the risks and reiterated: "Integrated Watershed Management (IWM) as FRWO's central activity is a very important tool and all FRWO's activities such as forestry, range restoration and conservation should be carried out within IWM approach.  IWM has various positive functions that developing its measures in the country along with the protection of forests and rangelands, reduces any future damages in the critical and high-risk areas of provinces."
